Shen Foundation Grant Funds Essential Learning Stations in Koda Special Education Classroom
Last week the Shen Foundation recognized Koda Special Education Teacher Jaime Youngman and Principal Rose Beckett for their proactive work in securing vital classroom funding this summer.
Facing an expanded class size for the upcoming school year, Jaime needed 12 additional specialized Learning Stations to build an adaptable, supportive learning environment. However, standard district furniture funds had already been fully allocated to support the launch of the new full-day Kindergarten program.
Driven by the conviction that "if we can’t change how students learn, we must change how we teach," Jaime collaborated with Principal Beckett to submit an urgent grant proposal to the Shen Educational Foundation. Their submission included photos showcasing how these versatile stations directly cater to diverse student learning styles and sensory needs.
Thanks to the Foundation's quick action and the generosity of local donors, all 12 stations arrived right on time for the first day of school.
