Macy Zeilman Named to 2026 U.S. Girls’ U19 Youth National Team
Shenendehowa High School varsity lacrosse standout Macy Zeilman has been selected to the 2026 U.S. Girls’ U19 Youth National Team, USA Lacrosse announced.
Zeilman, a member of the Shenendehowa Class of 2027, is one of 24 athletes from 11 states selected to represent the United States on the U19 Youth National Team. The roster features many of the nation's top high school players and will compete internationally this fall.
For Zeilman, the selection marks another milestone in a remarkable young lacrosse career.
Zeilman has been a varsity player at Shenendehowa since seventh grade, playing under head coach Bobby Karl. As a sophomore in 2025, she led the Shenendehowa team in points and was named the team's Most Valuable Player. She was also selected to the 2025 NYS Section 2 Suburban Council First Team All-Star team and has twice been recognized as a USA Lacrosse Magazine Northeast Player of the Week.
In addition to her career at Shenendehowa, Zeilman competes for the Long Island Yellow Jackets, one of the nation's premier club lacrosse programs.
A Inside Lacrosse Women’s 4-Star Recruit, Zeilman is committed to continue her collegiate career at the University of Notre Dame, where she will play for head coach Christine Halfpenny.
Her path to the U19 team included a significant setback. Zeilman was sidelined during the 2026 high school season with a lower-leg injury, but returned to the national-team process determined to continue her development and compete for a place among the country's elite young players.
That perseverance ultimately earned her a spot on the U.S. U19 roster.
“Macy's selection to the U.S. U19 team is an incredible accomplishment, and one that she has absolutely earned,” said Shenendehowa head coach Bobby Karl. “I've had the privilege of coaching Macy since she was in seventh grade, and I've watched her grow as a player and as a person. Her work ethic, competitiveness and love for the game have always stood out. Coming back from her injury and earning this opportunity makes this accomplishment even more meaningful. We couldn't be prouder of her.”
“I am incredibly honored and grateful to have been selected to the U.S. Girls’ U19 Youth National Team,” said Zeilman. “Representing the United States is something I have dreamed about, and I’m excited for the opportunity to compete with and learn from so many outstanding players. I’m especially grateful to everyone who has supported me throughout my journey, including my family, coaches, teammates and the Shenendehowa community.”
The 2026 U.S. Girls’ U19 Youth National Team is led by Division I head coaches Amy Altig of Delaware and Lauren Skellchock of Mount St. Mary’s. Assistant coaches are Amy Moreau of Penn State and Jessy Morgan of Garrison Forest. All four coaches have played in the U.S. National Teams system.
The team will make its international debut at the Brogden Cup, September 25-27, at USA Lacrosse headquarters in Sparks, Maryland. The Americans will compete against teams from Lacrosse Canada and the Haudenosaunee Nationals in both field and sixes disciplines.
The team will then travel to Oshawa, Ontario, October 9-11, for the Rivalry Challenge.
Zeilman's selection represents a significant achievement not only for the Shenendehowa lacrosse program, but for the Capital Region, as she becomes one of the area's newest representatives on the U.S. national lacrosse stage.
From taking the field for Shenendehowa as a seventh grader, to earning team MVP honors as a sophomore, overcoming a season-long injury and earning recognition among the country's top young players, Zeilman now has the opportunity to wear the red, white and blue.
