Career and Technical Education (CTE) Community Partnerships

At Shenendehowa, our community partnerships are built on a simple but powerful premise: by leveraging our collective resources, we create a foundation of support that no single institution could provide alone.

We believe that when the district and the community align, our students are the ultimate beneficiaries. These collaborations aren’t just about filling gaps; they are about expanding horizons. Whether through mentorships, shared facilities, or local business initiatives, we are dedicated to providing our students with the tools and networks they need to thrive.

Perhaps most exciting are the unintended consequences of this work. Beyond the planned goals, these partnerships often spark spontaneous innovation, foster deep-rooted local pride, and uncover hidden opportunities for our students that we never could have predicted. By opening our doors to the community, we aren’t just educating students—we are building a stronger, more connected future for everyone.

Why Partner with Shenendehowa?

Shenendehowa High School students can gain knowledge and skills with their choice of 4 CTE Pathways in the Business, FACS and Technology Education Departments. Each career pathway is a sequence of courses approved by the New York State Education Department, and includes a professional exam, work-based learning experiences, career and financial management component, and at least one college level course.

“Our goal is to strengthen connections between industry and education and ensure students are gaining the skills, awareness, and experiences needed to succeed in high-demand careers across our region.”

How to Support Our Programs

There are various ways to partner with us, and every year we find new opportunities to increase collaboration. Our annual Workforce Forum is the newest way to access our students and set them on track to be a future asset to the industry. Here are some of the other ways to work with us:

  • Internships
    • Semester-long placements for students to gain hands-on experience.
  • Externships
    • Short-term "shadowing" for students or professional development for teachers.
  • Advisory Boards
    • Help us shape our curriculum to meet current industry standards.
  • Sponsorships
    • Fund specific labs, equipment, or student competitions (STEM, DECA, etc.).
  • Guest Speaking
    • A low-commitment, 1-hour session to share your career journey.
